To gain a design understanding of steel as a primary structural material, students were asked todesign a Chicago Fire Station at one of two urban sites within the city.

My site, located at the intersection of Hubbard and Wells, presented an interesting sitecondition where the tracks of the elevated train system directly intersected the site affectingpossible height attainable by the building and restrictions as to the movement of fire trucks through the site.
