Participated in the design and construction of the prototype classroom dome in December 2011-January 2012. Partnered with Long Way Home the UCD College of Architecture and Planning visited Guatemala on a study abroad trip to participate in the construction of a new school campus for La Escuela Tecnico Maya, a vocational school focused on sustainability.

The dome is an earthbag structure with a gravel tire foundation with an 11' inside finished diameter and 14' height and will be used as a welcome center/information kiosk/guardhouse when the school opens.

It will be the prototype for a series of 8 connected classroom domes with 20' diameters. The formwork used for the prototype will be recycled for use in the classrooms.
