The intent of this project was to correlate the program for a design center with an atypical building form. The building form was created by using a process of repetitive geometry. After developing the building’s form, each of the programmatic elements was examined and placed in response to the geometry. This particular design center includes a gallery space for the Japanese industrial artist Sori Yanagi as well as temporary galleries for invited artists, seminar rooms, and other general public spaces. The vertical connection to the all sectors of the program is through the void in the middle of the building. This void is a link to the buildings program from public to private space. As one progresses through the building, the form remains the same and the program shifts to adapt to the unique form.
