For my senior thesis I designed a 90 Day Transitional Housing Facility for individuals who have been affected by the recession and have become homeless. In order to be admitted into this housing unit individuals needs to be free of drugs and alcohol. For my design I used a renovated mill that is located in Lawrence, MA.
My inspiration came from the idea of having a place that someone could call "home." Instead of designing rows upon rows of bed, I designed tiny houses specifically for single individuals, single parents, and families. In the four story unit, the second, third, and fourth floor were divided by male, female, and family. This is a place where people can come to find the hope, courage, and change they need to restart their lives.
