Design Marfa launched a competition to encourage multi-familly housing projects to address a housing shortage crisis. Our four person team proposed a new development typology that embraces a symbiotic living environment that addresses the needs of both local residents and the influx of visitors. The open courtyard plan provides for a circulation loop that intersects major public programs with a mixed distribution of temporary and permanent housing. The units are designed with a level of flexibility to accommodate configurations that allow for single person, family, and visiting artists’ needs.
