Brasil Sensacional

The inspiration behind the desing for the second floor of the ‘Brasil Sensacional’ exhibition, was driven ffrom the country’s culture and its very strong juxtapositions of artificial and natural landscapes.
Each host city for the 2014 World Cup is represented by a totem holding two screens, one dedicated to the stadium to host and one to the city itself. Totems were placed inside an existing office space as to recreate an abstract map of the country and at the same time provide a clear path for visitors.
The totems vary in height starting from taller at the end of the room, to lower towards the bar located on the other end. The whole is completed by a backlight wall featuring some historic logos and artefacts for the FIFA competition, and three rooms on the side available for traditional recreational activities.

The attention given to the ground floor of the exhibition is shown through the intricately carved-out, central mass -or void if you will- announcing a sensational experience to come. The kisosks showing brazilian innovations in the fields of technologies and telecommunication, are cocooned in the hollows created by the designed scenography. The creature-like piece opens up to the front to lure its visitors inside and discover what hides in its bowels. A cheap and effective construction method was chosen, with the aid of CNC cutting in order to meet a tight planning.
