About

As a student of art and architectural history I am moved by many periods and styles, although with a particular interest in late 19th- and 20th-century architecture and design. In addition to the usual suspects, I am often drawn to work that is idiosyncratic, a bit outside the mainstream, and that possesses an emotive power. This includes buildings by architects such as Francesco Borromini, Ralph Walker, Eero Saarinen, Louis Kahn, and Paul Rudolph. However, I am least concerned with dogma.

I have always felt that there exists a considerable affinity between the worlds of architecture and film.  Both are intensely collaborative endeavors that can aspire to art, but unlike other art forms architecture serves a utilitarian function and is also a business. As Herbert Muschamp once so aptly stated: "Architecture “is where our dreams collide with practical realities….” And therein lay the challenges and rewards of the profession.
