About

Aaron Bruckerhoff is an Associate Principal at Populous and brings over 22 years of experience to designs of varying complexity, size, and program type. He has led teams for projects at several institutions including Brown University and the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and international projects such as the recently completed Ankara Office Tower (312 Vista). His experience also includes libraries, performing arts centers, student housing, adaptive re-use projects, and university master plans.

He believes that architecture should be contextual, responsive and engaging. It should evoke conversation, feeling, inspiration or all of the above. Thoughtful, measured design changes and enhances simple, daily routines. It triggers new actions and interactions. It promotes wellbeing. And that a commitment to design excellence means creating communities, attractions and treasures.

That an architect’s role in achieving this is to go beyond satisfying the basic needs of the client’s program and intent for use. Gaining a deeper understanding of each project and client enhances the functionality for users, reveals new interpretations, and creates reconsidered, reframed designs beyond the expectations of the status quo.

That architecture demands a highly collaborative process, reliant on input from the community, clients, occupants, builders, suppliers and fabricators. Listening, interpretation, collaboration, and communication should be at the center of every project. A building should be lasting, sustainable and community supported. A building’s design should endure.

Aaron has a B.F.A. and B.Arch. from the Rhode Island School of Design. He has been a visiting critic at the RISD Architecture and Interior Architecture Departments. A recipient of the 2016 Earl R. Flansburgh Young Architects Award from the Boston Society of Architects. He is a registered architect in the State of Massachusetts since 2006 and LEED Accredited Professional since 2004 with BD+C specialty since 2009.
