About 

John Carhart is a design architect with 21 years of experience working with some of the most accomplished firms in the country including Richard Meier & Partners, Krueck & Sexton Architects, Allied Works Architecture, and Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects.   He has extensive design experience with many project types such as multi-family residential, commercial, mixed use, higher education, science & technology and health care.

John has been described as a self-motivated and independent thinker with a wide breadth of talents.  John is a strong conceptual designer with a keen eye for composition and form-making.  He is also equally strong with tectonic detail development and documentation.  A thorough and conscientious architect, John has an undeniable passion for good design and architectural craftsmanship.

John is licensed to practice architecture in New York state and Oregon.

I supported the Associate Partners with design work on a variety of large-scale projects including
the Bethel Performing Arts Center, NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, The Perry Street
Condominiums in Manhattan, and the Cittadella Bridge in Allessandria, Italy. Additionally, I served as the Project Architect for a large-scale commercial development in St. Louis, Missouri.

My role at Allied Works was to collaborate directly with the firm's leader, Brad Cloepfil, on the Sacks Building, a groundbreaking mixed use building in Northwest Portland, and the Wieden & Kennedy headquarters building, a notable adaptive re-use of an existing historic landmark building.
