Aedas, AHR- Global in Karachi, PK, Junior Architect/ Assistant Project Manager
Currently working on Pakistan's largest mall namely Nishat Emporium Mall in Lahore, consisting of a Hotel, Mall, Banquet & Cinema (27 million Sq Ft). I started out immediately with Revit contributing in making construction drawings, being a team member amongst five architects and three¬¬¬ draftsmen. I was assigned a given number of sheets to work on which were to be included within each drawing set of the respective tender.
Worked on six tender drawing sets producing construction drawings in detail for monthly
deadlines therefore successfully completing five tenders with the team in six months namely the Mall Finishes Tender, Facade Tender, Glazing Tender, Hotel Banqueting Tender and the Door Tender.
Was a coordinator for a brief period handling queries from the site architects and re- issuing
drawings after feedback and approval. Coordination tasks also included keeping the contractors and client updated with drawings and construction on site.
Was solely responsible for the exterior landscape coordination between 'Plinke Landscape
Architects' and our firm ‘Aedas'. Lastly was solely responsible for handling the drawings for all 200 retails in the mall. The task was assigned by the Regional Director Ali Naqvi to be completed in 1.5 months’ time therefore gave direction to the helping BIM operators accordingly. The drawings then would be handed over to each tenant with details of the boundaries, within which they can construct, with details of the plan, sections, front elevation, MEP openings and H-VAC systems in place.
Copper & Steel (Arshad Faruqi - I.I.T), Karachi, PK, Junior Architect Designer
Junior designer for a number of residential projects which were modeled in Revit and produced conceptual stage plan drawings with 3D renderings for the client.
Initially started out introducing Revit to the small design studio which specialized in residential projects. For my first project I was assigned to design an extension of an existing 2000 Sq.yd house. The old model was the 'as-built' residence and the extension linked was the new Revit model through which I easily extracted ceiling electrical plans & sections to be sent to the structural engineer for review. 3D Renders were also then produced for the client.
My projects at 'Copper & Steel' also included:
.Concept design and Revit model of a 1000 Sq.yd Residence
.Concept design and Revit model of a 800 Sq.yd Residence
.Concept design and Revit model of a Mosque in Interior Sindh
Kan Kan Design Studio (Kamran Mirza - R.I.B.A Chartered Architect), Karachi, PK, Junior Designer
Being my first office working with RIBA Chartered Architects, I was immediately assigned to learn Revit as part of my training.
Was given a residence extension to partially design and model in Revit. The 'Faiz residence' had an existing two stories and required a third. Steel box sections were used in the structure to maximize space which helped me to learn Revit's attention to detail.
'Levis & Dockers' stores across the city were designed by the firm. Within a team, I started from dimensioning the mall spaces and was required to model the walls and structure on Revit along with the families for the furniture which were pre-designed in the international manual provided. Three Levis stores in different locations were worked upon within a team of Revit architects.
'Naurattan Jewellers' was the last project worked upon which gave me my initial experience with site management. I was the sole site architect directing Contractors, Carpenters, Electrical Workers and Blacksmiths to meet deadlines for the mall opening.
