Employment 

University at Buffalo, Buffalo, NY, US, Staff Assistant

Worked as a Staff Assistant in the School of Architecture and Planning Dean’s Office. Duties included aiding students in academic rules, policies, and regulations. Assisting undergraduate students through academic programming, undergraduate admissions, and career advisement. Worked closely with Assistant Dean on web design, recruitment materials, and orientation aids. Duties also included training and managing tour guides for perspective high school students. In addition, I worked with the Business and Operations Office under supervision of Associate Dean. Duties included, recording and issuing Disbursement Requests, Deposit Transmittal's, Invoices, and Purchase Orders.

Responsibilities included experience in all five design phases; Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, Bidding, and Construction Administration. Other tasks completed such as Project Management, Field Assessment, Specification Writing, Client and Consultant Meetings, Code Compliance & Reviews, RFI’s and Submittal Reviews, Asbestos Abatement Design and Coordination. Oversight of multiple projects in different design phases while adhering to critical deadlines. In-house project coordination between Structural, MEP, and Civil Engineers. Projects ranged from residential to multi-phase K-12 construction. Participated in several AIA continuing education programs during lunch hour and earned LEED Green Associate certificate. Currently have over 3,700 hours in experience approved by NCARB in IDP. Partaken in REVIT training and have completed projects using this BIM software. Trained in NewForma project management software as well as MasterSpec for specifications.

Completed Master’s Thesis Project entitled “FLOW”, A design inquiry and full scale prototype that transcends natural oscillations of the ebb and flow of oceanic tides to a materialized form. “FLOW” was exhibited on the shores of Alma, New Brunswick, Canada, along the Bay of Fundy during the month of May, 2014. Published results are forthcoming.

Specialized in Material Culture research trajectory by completing two concurrent semesters in a Studio, Technical Methods, and Intellectual Domain. Coursework included, advanced fabrication methods of terra cotta, steel, timber, plastics, and concrete. Developed robotic pin-mold system used for mass customization of terra cotta panels. Fully trained on utilizing RhinoCAM and Grasshopper on 3-Axis CNC machine. Heavy emphasis on Materials, Tectonics, and Methods throughout graduate studies.

Completed Aural Architecture seminar in which I analyzed material finishes related to acoustic qualities in a retail environment. Research was based on Colin Cherry’s “Cocktail Party Effect.” The results indicated that materials and their arrangement play a vital role in determining the comfort level of a retail environment.

Undergraduate research in Biomimetic Façade systems. Was invited to present findings and be a guest speaker at Columbia University, Graduate School of Urban Planning, and Parsons School of Architecture. Research focused on integrating a series of active and passive biomimetic strategies.
