London, GB

My name is Linda Delmedico and I am writing to express my interest in theJunior architect position that I saw on archinect website.

I have a Masters of Science in Architectural Engineering and in the last year of my Degree I specialized in Building Restoration and Conservation and Building Design and Housing Typology. After graduation in 2011, I gained a position as architectural assistant at Pastore & Morelli architectural studio in Bari. There I worked on the Urban regeneration of S. Girolamo district project. which was an infrastructural, landscape and environmental regenerationof the entire district. I worked specifically on the executive project and the building details, including social and private housing, primary urban areas and public facilities.

I wanted to move into the international arena continuing my studies abroad so I applied, and won a regional scholarship to do a Masters of Architecture in Collective Housing at the Polytechnic of Madrid. I wished to add to my technically based, architectural engineering background by undertaking a Masters Degree with an alternative approach focused on advanced architectural design. I was attracted by the international profile of the MCH and sharing my ideas or points of view, with high-profile architects such as, Anne Lacaton, Andrea Deplazes, and Wiel Arets.

The course was delivered entirely in English, the topics changing from month to month, which meant learning and applying different methods and design approaches each month. It was a challenge for me from the start of the course because I was recognized as an engineer and I had to work extra hard to prove my architectural abilities. I successfully adapted to this style of working, and the experience was heightened by being a member of a different team for each project. My integration was complete when I was asked to lead some of these teams, such as “Re-use as an opportunity” and “Depth studies”, which I have included in my Portfolio.

As is shown by my experience in my year in Madrid, I believe that significant aims are achieved only with passion, dedication, professionalism and ability to collaborate. I would relish the opportunity to work with a creative and forward-looking architectural firm.

I look forward to meeting with you and discussing the ways my skills may best serve your architectural practice.

Yours sincerely,

Linda Delmedico
