About

My name is Maca Carrera, I was born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador. I went to the Savannah College of Art and Design for Interior Design and currently I am doing my Master in Strategic Design and Management at Parson The School for Design.

I have always believed that I would help people through the power of design. My passions and interests in human behavior, education, spatial design, design philosophy, fashion, photography, art, culture, strategy, urban planning, sociology, anthropology, research and problem solving has allowed me the knowledge and skills needed to fill the shoes of a modern-day renaissance woman. The world is constantly changing and evolving, that is not a bad thing, but it means we must constantly be ready to adjust to change, which can be very complex. I believe that with research and design, and changing the scale of how we think and approach the future, we can find sustainable solutions for environmental, political, economical and social problems.

Currently, I am the interior Design Coordinator for Perianth Interior Design in New York City. I am involved in every aspect of the firm. As part of my experience in the design process, I have been able to expand graphic thinking to develop a strong concept in which the project is based on from 2D to 3D. Being able to work in Autocad, Photoshop, InDesign, and Excel I have displayed digital models construction documents to go into specific detailing of each space.

The innovations I have developed here have not been in personal design but also collaborative design and that has prepared me to go on to work in larger groups where teamwork is necessary but also have the motivation to find design solutions on my own.
