As a recent MArch graduate from the UCD School of Architecture in Dublin, with a valid J-1 work visa and having just moved to New York in April - I would like to put myself forward for a position at your studio. I have two years experience working on projects of different scales from custom furniture design, issuing construction drawings for a boutique architecture office in Tunis, making competition quality models for an award winning Dutch office in Amsterdam and tutoring workshops in Italy, Ireland and Denmark. Most recently I was employed for five months as a research assistant to Robin Guenther, Principle architect at Perkins and will New York and author of Sustainable Healthcare Architecture working on layout design, information graphic design, visual presentation and website design.
Take a look at my portfolio, resumé and reference attached. For more information see my website: www.patrickjroche.com - I look forward to hearing from you and arranging an interview. I am available to start working from the beginning of the middle of October.

Robin Guenter, New York, NY, US, Research assistant
I have placed below a reference written by my employer Principle Architect at Perkins + Will New York as a description of my current position
To Whom it May Concern:
Patrick Roche has been working with me as a Research Assistant for the past 4-5 months in the
development of the Second Edition of my publication, Sustainable Healthcare Architecture. I
selected Patrick through an open position search—a process in which I reviewed more than 100
resumes and interviewed many candidates. Patrick’s interests, resume and background were
well matched to the project requirements and needs; in the course of our work together, he has
impressed me with his depth of understanding, maturity, interest and professionalism. I highly
recommend him to other possible employers during his time in the US, and believe your firm will
have as positive an experience with Patrick as I have enjoyed.
Patrick has exceeded my expectations in every aspect of the project. He is dedicated
and responsive, works independently, is thorough and accurate in his work product. He is deeply
committed to excellence, and works tirelessly to achieve timely and impressive results. His
understanding of architectural ideas is well-developed; he approaches design challenges with
clear vision, a sense of purpose, and rigor. His background and portfolio are exceptional. During
this internship, Patrick has completed original research, contacted many of the 54 global project
teams with projects in our book, has conceptualized original graphics, icons and ably organized
and catalogued extensive photo and project information files. He has produced graphic layouts
for case studies and profiles.
I would not have accomplished the completion of my manuscript without his able and
dedicated assistance. It is important to me that Patrick find a position in which he feels challenged
and exceeds expectations. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for a reference
for Patrick at your convenience at 917-922-0084.
Sincerely,
Robin Guenter
