About

I recently graduated with my post-professional Master of Landscape Architecture degree from Cornell University in May 2012. This degree builds on my Bachelor's of Architecture professional degree from Illinois Institute of Technology in May 2009.

My 5-year goal is to obtain both my Architecture and Landscape Architecture licenses. Then I plan to take a step back and evaluate whether or not to return to academia as a professor.

Education

Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, US, Masters, Landscape Architecture

I was enrolled in the post-professional 2-year degree program. This was a comprehensive and fantastic experience where I learned plant care and identification, site engineering & construction, Urban Design and historic preservation techniques. Also, I had the privilege to TA for the Sophomore undergraduates and work with Kathryn Gleason, who was also my first LA studio professor.

Aug 2010 - Aug 2012

Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Chicago, IL, US, BArch, Architecture

I completed the 5-year professional degree program for my Bachelors of Architecture in 2009. This program was based on the teachings of Mies Van der Rohe, Alfred Caldwell and many other great architectural professionals. i think what I most appreciated about the program was the large amount of professors who were practicing architecture at the same time they were teaching. It was nice to have practical knowledge infused with the abstract. I learned about Less is More and More about...so many subjects! I had the chance to study abroad with the Paris Program not once but 3 times. Furthermore, their integrated Landscape Architecture program allowed me to focus my final semester on Landscape Architecture studios and classes. This experience forever shaped my career as a future dual-degree professional.

Aug 2004 - May 2009

Parks for the People, Award

Parks for the People Award Ceremony: September 19 in Washington, D.C.
The Competition

"Parks for the People is a design competition that reimagines America's most spectacular public places — its national parks — by using design as a catalyst to creatively rethink their connections to people and their role as revered natural, social, and cultural destinations. As the U.S. National Park Service embarks upon a new century of park design, Parks for the People has called on faculty and student teams across the nation to reimagine seven park sites in each geographic region of the U.S. In the spring of 2012, the nine Stage 1-winning teams are working to envision innovative ideas for the design and planning of the 21st-century national park. This summer and fall, we'll select the winners and celebrate their visions for welcoming, meaningful, healthy, and enduring public places — parks that are truly for the people."
