“What man is a man who does not make the world better?” -- Balian of Ibelin

This was said by Orlando Bloom’s lead character in one of my favorite movies, “Kingdom of Heaven.” I really love this quote because it teases at the desire that I feel many of us have; to leave a mark on this planet that we can be proud of. Not everyone will be successful in this endeavor or make the world fantastically better but I think what is important is that we try. I wish to leave my mark through Urban Planning.

My name is Wendell T. Joseph and I'm currently pursuing a career in Urban Planning. I have a passion and a desire to help shape the way our cities grow and the world we will live in by helping to manage and facilitate the growth and well-being of our communities, cities, environment and natural resources and everyone who shares and benefit from them.

I would also like to do some work in Community Development and provide sustainable solutions to complex urban issues with respects to crucial components such Urban Design, Mixed-Use and Affordable Housing.

- I'm dependable, patient and methodical in the work place and work well independently or with other people. While working on the Loma Linda project, I was able, along with my teammates, to draft up parameters and guidelines as they pertained to our work based on the City of Loma Linda General Plan as well as have a hand in the preliminary design stages.

- I'm a quick learner and am very good at getting results whether it be through research or asking the right questions.

Jordan Field School; Andrews University, Hesban, Jordan, Architect/Designer

The work consisted of preliminary designs for a self sustaining Cultural Heritage Center on site for the people of Hesban that would provide job opportunities for the locals and feature the history and heritage of Hesban for tourists. I worked on a small team to find solutions to foreign issues dealing with building codes, existing structures and land ownership.

l’Université Adventiste d’Haïti, Port-au-Prince, HT, Architect

I designed a residential development for l’Université Adventiste d’Haïti (UNAH), a university located in post-earthquake Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The objective was to develop long-term solutions, rather than short-term answers, that were sustainable and demonstrated a balance of cultural, environmental and economic sustainability.

I was involved in a greenfield development for the City of Loma Linda. My team was charged with reading, deciphering and interpreting what the General Plan called for to provide direction in the design and implementation processes.
