About

My flash portfolio can be found online at www.alexdorfman.com

I believe my design style coincides with your design mentality. I can
produce a wide array of forms that are objective appropriate. For
example Grip, my athletic footwear support, is sleek, yet rugged while
my sink I designed in collaboration with Delta Faucet is organic and
delicate. I am also very good at working with a team. Freeride, my
special needs trike project, was designed by myself and three other
group mates. I worked as team leader and was in charge of concepting,
computer modeling, and design refinement. My first group mate did all
of the research and interviews for the group, and the other two worked
very hard to bring our vision to reality by creating a prototype that
was not only beautiful, but functioned just as we had hoped.

I have a minor in furniture design. At Purdue, this minor is not
limited to design and design history. I am also well versed in the
physical properties of various domestic woods and the processes that
turn a tree into a piece of lumber. Further, every summer I have spent
furthering my furniture interests. Following my freshman year at
college I first took an official furniture design class at Heron. The
following summer I travelled to Denmark to participate in a study
abroad opportunity. We toured Scandinavia’s furniture factories and
then returned to Copenhagen where we designed and built our own chairs
under current furniture design professionals. This last summer I
traveled to Panama for my internship. I lived in the jungle and
designed furniture for a land development company looking to develop a
sustainable community.

While I am from Indiana, I have no problem relocating.  I hope to hear
back from you soon. Please don’t hesitate to shoot me an email or call
with any questions
