About

My design philosophy is rooted in the practice of sustainability. I enjoy repurposing found objects in our environment to create compelling and functional designs. The idea of assembling eccentric components to form a cohesive whole plays an important role in my process. My education in sustainable design has taught me that every material has a value.

Attending California College of the Arts was an invaluable experience. I was exposed to many areas of fine art and design. I gained a sense of process through preliminary, intermediate, and final sketches and drawings of an idea. The emphasis on studio classes forced me to think about design methodically. Projects consisted of research, mind mapping, writing, and critiquing. My time at California College of the Arts gave me a strong foundation for the UC Davis design program to build on.

My art and design professors have always inspired me. Teaching a drawing class at the local public library made me appreciate good instruction. Having to convey basic drawing principles to the students gave me a deeper understanding of artistic technique as a whole.

Design is about progressive thinking and solving problems. Through my varied experiences I’ve learned to appreciate process, as well as the final product. Using the principles of sustainability and thoroughness I strive for innovation and beauty in all of my designs.
