About

I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Pernambuco, in Brazil, and have worked in New York City for 9 years in highly reputable firms. I am a member of the Architectural League of NY and a licensed architect in Brazil.  In 2008 I joined the Certificate program in Green Building Design at Cooper Union University. Academically I have taught design and theory courses at Architecture undegraduate programs in Brazil. Throughout my career I have also had the chance to dedicate myself to my own architectural practice which can be seen at http://www.anarolim.com/eng/ and http://coletivo-rt.tumblr.com/ (for latest work).

My professional experience includes both architecture and interior design, with a focus on residential, hospitality and retail.

I believe architecture and interior design should aim to provoke unique and exciting spatial experiences while, at the same time, respect the building / intervention sites physically and historically, the environment, and both the nature and constructability of materials. I am interested in a non-universalist approach towards the design process, where its interaction with the history of the city and its architectural legacy, contemporary art and culture play decisive role.
