Ana Rolim

New York, NY, US

About

I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Pernambuco, in Brazil, and have worked in New York City for 9 years in highly reputable firms. I am a member of the Architectural League of NY and a licensed architect in Brazil.  In 2008 I joined the Certificate program in Green Building Design at Cooper Union University. Academically I have taught design and theory courses at Architecture undegraduate programs in Brazil. My latest work can be seen at  http://coletivo-rt.tumblr.com/ . For work through 2008 please check http://www.anarolim.com/eng/.

My professional experience includes both architecture and interior design, with a focus on residential, hospitality and retail.

I believe architecture and interior design should aim to provoke unique and exciting spatial experiences, assimilating both physical and historic characteristics of the site, as well as respecting the environment and the nature and constructability of materials. I am interested in a non-universalist approach towards the design process, where its interaction with the history of the city and its architectural legacy, contemporary art and culture play decisive role.
