Dear Gentlemen,
My academic and professional experience has molded me into a well rounded and versatile individual, providing me with the qualifications to fill the opening at your firm.
My education in design has exposed me to the fields of Architecture and Landscape Architecture in the United States, Puerto Rico and Mexico. I have a strong background as a Designer/Project Manager, a position with broad exposure to all stages, from design to construction. Working in GB & Associates, an architectural design-build firm,I was part of a team developing the complete design and renovation of a 23,000 sq. ft. structure. My responsibilities included; design, drafting, modeling, permitting, bid packages, assessing, coordination of subcontractors and general office support. Presently, in Dauerflora, an international landscape and ambient installation company, I am responsible for the complete US operations including; production planning and overview, sourcing, staff supervision, oversight of projects on location, cost projections, maintenance of design intent, drafting, visualization, customer acquisition and management of quotes, proposals and presentations. The management of multiple operations has provided me with the ability to handle a wide range of tasks for a given project. It has also made me flexible, allowing me to adapt to the gaps that need to be filled by a position, within a team. I am an individual that surpasses the expectations of the employer by recognizing ways to maximize my productivity inside the company.
My academic achievements include a Bachelor in Environmental Design/Architecture from the University of Puerto Rico where I was awarded the SMART scholarship. I participated in a student exchange program during my 3rd year in the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) where my design proposal for the ‘Water Museum’ was chosen to lead a group design collaboration (UIC Competition) and was a finalist representing Puerto Rico. Pursuing graduate studies, I obtained a Master of Landscape Architecture from Florida International University, where I was able to synthesize my design interests and research them as part of my thesis which focused on interdisciplinary design and sustainability. These degrees have provided me with a balanced and comprehensive grasp of the architectural practices, including skills in graphic design, concept development and time management.
Please find my resume and work samples on my profile, I am available at your convenience for a phone or in-person interview and look forward to the opportunity of future collaboration.
Kind Regards,
Cristina L. Cordero
