Paula Banda has recently finished her undergraduate thesis from SCI-Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture) in Downtown, Los Angeles. She has been practicing and studying architecture for seven years, and an art geek all her life.
She took all types of art classes during high school where she was hold position of becoming the vice president of National Art Honor Society. From pottery to graphic art design class, Paula truly incorporated design with her academic curriculum. Her first two years in a junior college concentrated on a more technical and construction aspect of architecture in which she practiced the technicality of blue print reading and construction documents; she graduated with honors. She then transferred to SCI-Arc where her work as been published and showcased in several school exhibitions.
Her work experience includes volunteer hours in an architecture museum, freelance cad drafter and designer for a local residence in Downtown, Los Angeles and a few competitions. She was also involved in SCI-Arc community outreached program where they partnered with CALTRANS and LA Bureau of Engineering to develop a hybrid railing system for the 7th street bridge over the 110 freeway. She also helped constructing part of the Solar Decathlonʼs house, CHIP (Compact Hyper-Insulated Prototype) for completion.
Paula's work including her thesis has been published and recognized in a few architectural sites such as Sucker Punch Daily and featured in Archinect.com.
As designer, Paula wanted to incorporate her knowledge artistic ability to express architecture. She prides herself in having an eye for being design driven. She enjoys developing ideas conceptually and visually in all inter-disciplinary scopes of architecture, which includes big scale, mixed-used projects, infrastructure, and urban design.
Paula is very dedicated to her work; a self-motivator who pays close attention to details and a great team player. Her skills include good craftsman-ship with model making, proficiency in Photoshop to conceptualize design ideas and a great graphic designer.
