About

My passion is improving the quality of the day by healing the urban environment through brilliant design.  While pursing my degree I conducted a research grant where I studied the storm-water infrastructure of the Netherlands to see how we could use similar technologies in the US to save our low lying cities from the flooding effects of climate change.  This background coupled with my experience as a Green Roof Designer gives me key insight to understanding various options for implementing green infrastructure.  I have experience presenting this information both in academic and ASLA industry lectures.

The technology and principals that I have learned from becoming an accredited Green Roof Professional (GRP) and working at Green Roof Service LLC have made me highly skilled in green roof design and project management. Through combined ground and rooftop installations I have experience in all project phases including site visit, analysis, client consultation, estimates and proposals, site planning and design, construction details, specifications, permit acquisition, construction site supervision, and post construction maintenance inspection.  A humorous but thorough account of a green roof installation I supervised can be seen by visiting Tellus 360's green roof blog.

My current employment is in Maryland and I will be relocating to the NYC metro area shortly to be with my family.  I am looking for a career where I can grow intellectually and professionally.

When I'm not designing green roofs or updating my growing media manicure I'm coaching fencing or diving into foodie heaven with a new culinary creation.  I'm also very interested in environmental psychology and feng shui and like to explore ways to integrate their concepts into design both at home and at work.

Education

Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, US, Bachelors, Environmental Planning and Design : Landscape Architecture

I began my studies at Rutgers looking to help people through healing/well being. While at pursuing my degree in Nutrition I discovered Landscape Architecture through a commercial floral design elective. When I discovered I could use my love for art to create environments that could heal both man and the environment there was no going back.

I switched to Landscape Architecture and thoroughly enjoyed the design challenges and discovery that came with it. Staying true to my holistic side I took a course in Horticulture Therapy and worked as a research assistant on a study searching for a correlation between the cognitive health of the elderly and the presence of greenery in adult living communities.

I love travel and gaining insight from other cultures and traveled as much as I could with this program including a study abroad studio in Barcelona and Northern Italy, partaking in a Japanese Garden Symposium in Osaka Japan, and writing and carrying out a research grant which studied the canal and storm surge systems of the Netherlands.
