About

As a designer, I am fascinated by the relationship between architecture and identity; and how design can be used as a tool to speak about people and their needs. The competitions, community design partnerships, and internships I have participated in have given me the chance to look at how design can facilitate discussions about people and their priorities.

Design/Build Installation Art Practice, Designer

Working with rural communities has been an eduactional experience all its own with two projects standing out the most - Lassin and Mbinon.

The Lassin and Mbinon projects are located in a rural community in NW Cameroon. With the Lassin project I was tasked with the design of an entertainment pavilion for use by the local community. And with the Mbinon project I proposed a rehabilitation of an existing building by converting it to a mixed-use property that would include three apartments on the second floor and shop space as well as a lounge on the first floor.
As of date, the Lassin project is slated for completion in the summer of 2013 and Mbinon is still in the early stages of construction.

Between these two projects I produced:
- design development level drawings and renderings using ArchiCAD, Maxwell and Photoshop
- Used SketchUp as a tool during client meetings to illustrate ideas about the project during the design process
- Carried out materials research and specified which materials were to be used for the projec
