My name is Wojciech Maciejewski. I have scored a Master's degree in the field of architecture and urban planning and obtained postgraduate diploma in architectural lighting in architecture, both from Poznan University of Technology. There I conducted my first research on architectural acoustics and artificial lighting.
I am working as an architect since graduation. My main interest is energy efficiency and energy use in buildings. In 2015 I have completed a sustainability studies programme in Vienna. My current goal is to pass the state exam and acquire full architectural licence later this year.
At the same time I am a PhD candidate at Cracow University of Technology. I am a holder of an independent research grant administered by the university. My research aims to quantify the relation between parameters of public lighting of perceived personal safety. The main challenge is to create an environment that allows controlling the lighting parameters and grants independence from the other factors. In order to solve this problem, I use virtual reality in research and experiments
I am also trying my hand at entrepreneurship. I have started my business activity in 2014 with my own graphic design studio. In 2016 I took part in two entrepreneurial competitions and developed startup ideas that are related to my skills and expertise. At present I work as freelancer.
In the meantime, I play jazz on my violin, go skiing in winter and fly a paraglider during summer.

I am a PhD candidate. My dissertation topic is focused on the artificial lighting of the public spaces in cities. Supervisor: prof. Wacław Celadyn. I am a holder of an independent grant administered by a university and the lead researcher for the grant project. My project aims to find and quantify the relation between artificial lighting of public spaces and the users' sense of security. To create uninfluenced test environment I primarily use the virtual reality technology. As the principal investigator I take direct responsibility for completion of the project, directing the research and reporting directly to the funding agency.

Degree awarded: M.Sc. Engineer in Architecture
Dissertation title: The Philharmonic Auditorium in the Center of Poznan
Final grade: very good with distinction (A+)
Supervisor: Stanislaw Sipinski
Language of lectures/examination: English
The aim of my study was to develop a complete set of design guidelines for a concert hall venue which would be an appropriate seat for Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra and provide adequate volume and acoustic parameters for organising concerts of both classical and contemporary music. Size of the building and seat capacity of the auditorium were based on the analysis of the necessary functions and orchestra's repertoire and then correlated with capabilities of the chosen plot. Subsequently, the auditorium was optimized acoustically with utilization of state-of-the-art solutions. Finally, the analysis of urban and historic environment was prepared which allowed to adjust the project to the context of the city.
