About

I have recently graduated from Columbia College Chicago's graduate program in Interior Architecture/Sustainable Design.  I am now looking for work within the sustainability field, specifically as a designer, consultant, or educator.  Currently I am freelancing as a graphic designer and sustainability consultant.  I am also leading study sessions for the LEED AP EBOM exam.

I just finished gaining LEED project experience working on the certification process for the Iowa Renewable Energy Training Center, focusing on Energy and Atmosphere.

Employment

Chicago Center for Green Technology, Chicago, IL, US, consultant/paid intern

I worked in the Green Building Resource Center, fielding calls from the public regarding city sustainability initiatives, questions and concerns, as well as leading tours and facilitating registration for the Center's Green Tech U. I helped with office tasks and organization, as well as taking part in the Materials Review Panel-- which I am still a part of-- selecting sustainable materials to include into the materials library.

Education

Columbia College Chicago, Chicago, IL, US, Masters, Architectural Studies/Interior Architecture-- Sustainable Design

This pilot program started in 2007 and is currently in a moratorium for an indefinite period of time. The program focused mostly on architecture, despite being geared towards interiors and being an MFA as opposed to an MArch. My emphasis was in Adaptive Reuse, and this is the area in which I wish to pursue a career. We learned in-demand software applications, manual drafting, sketching, architectural history and theory, sustainable strategies, photography and modeling. Before acceptance into the program, we were required to take manual drafting, AutoCad, and architectural history from an accredited college, as well as a month-long "boot camp" in modeling, architectural history and artistic rendering.

Sep 2008 - Sep 2011

University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA, US, Bachelors, English-- Literature

My emphasis was creative writing, and I was accepted every term there, into the Writer's Workshop in Poetry. During my last semester I was accepted into the Graduate Writer's Workshop in Poetry. I also studied painting and video art.
