I am a designer living and working in Honduras. I am originally from the U.S.A. but after graduating moved to Honduras and have been lucky to get work in the firm I started here. I have a master's in Community Planning and Bachelor's degrees in Architecture and Interior Architecture, all from Auburn University.
My firm is a design/build practice with areas of expertise in Planning, Architecture, Interiors, furniture and object design. We work mainly in AutoCAD and more recently in Revit and 3DS Max with a heavy dependence on hand drawing in the early stages and detail development. Our projects range from the new cultural center of the city of San Pedro Sula (nearly 8,000 m2) to small commercial interior renovations and singular furniture pieces.
I am interested in design in general...I watch too much news and read too much wikipedia...I am also looking to start blowing glass as a hobby and inspiration.
Mix|Design, San Pedro Sula, HN, Owner/Designer
As the owner of a small firm I have developed the abilities of time and resource management, as well as interpersonal skills that help in working with clients and contractors. I also had to learn spanish in order to communicate with clients and workers on an everyday basis. At Mix|Design we thrive on the challenge presented by any design problem, large or small. We see design as a universal problem solving tool that we as designers are using constantly. Current projects include a residential construction, a residential interior design, a boxing gym renovation, a large cultural center for the city (pro bono), a school yard landscape design and facade design, among other projects.
Auburn University, Auburn, AL, US, Graduate Research Assistant
As GRA in the Community Planning program I worked under Cheryl Morgan and John Pittari preparing the visual master plan for the town of Notasulga, AL as my final project. This project included a town meeting to dissern the needs and assets of the community. Later we held a design charette with the town in order to share with them the beginnings of the ideas we had about their town in visual format. After this we developed these ideas with numerous hand drawings describing the town at different scales analyzing transit, vistas, regional relationships and areas for industrial, turistic and residential growth. After the design work was completed, we compiled the information into a final presentation to the town. A poster was created and the plan was adopted by the town.
