About

I earned my Bachelor of Architecture in December 2006 from New York Institute of Technology. While in school, I acted as project leader in a group design semester in Urban Design. My group placed 4th out of 20 groups in the competition. I began SKEB Consulting, now SKEB Designs Inc, with a partner in May 2009 after I was laid off from Spaces due to lack of incoming work. As a partner at SKEB, I have worked to ascertain project leads for commercial and residential projects, meet with clients, write proposals, and invoice clients. I don’t think most candidates for a job would admit to starting their own firm in fear of the negative thoughts it could conjure up in the mind of a potential employer. However, I choose to freely supply this information because I think it highlights important qualities that I possess. I believe it demonstrates that I am innovative, trustworthy, willing to take risks, and self-motivating. My partner and I formed our firm as a response to the poor job market and a demand for work from professional contacts that we had made that far in our architectural careers and the firm is still in operation today. Our largest client over the years is a local hospital who retained us to perform in-field construction supervision and inspections. We have continuously held that contract for more than 7 years.

Prior to starting my own firm, I began working as an intern and worked my way up to Project Manager for Spaces for 3½+ years, 2+ years of which were full time. While at Spaces, I played a large role in the firm as it was very small, consisting of the 2 partners, myself, and a part time field coordinator/draftsperson. During that time, I was involved in many projects, including residential, commercial, hospital, and food service projects. After starting SKEB Designs, I was asked to work in-house with Spaces as a consultant because they had a large influx of Hurricane Sandy Recovery work for New York Rising. I was heavily involved in this work measuring houses, interpreting elevation certificates and surveys, completing 6100s, designing, and completing construction drawings for submission to local building departments and also the NY Rising Program for review.

Also, I am registered with NCARB and my experience is complete. I will begin testing this year. Once I am licensed, I will become a bigger asset to your firm.
