I am a senior architect and have been active in the architectural profession since 1986. My first three years were spent in New Haven where I designed multi-family residential and small commercial projects. In 1989, I moved to New York City where I have been involved with schools, hotels, and large commercial and institutional projects. My focus has shifted from design to resolving technical problems. For the last twelve years I have typically been the senior architect on projects with budgets from $50 million to $150 million.
This experience includes work in some of New York’s best known firms as well as work in small offices. The projects have ranged from small repair jobs to high-rise multi-use buildings. This variety has given me insights into many different design situations and enables me to react quickly to new situations. It's the sort of breadth that is quite unusual within a single office, let alone in a single individual.
I received my Master of Architecture from the Yale School of Architecture in 1986. Two of my projects there were nominated for the Feldman Prize for Best Project of the Year and were shown at the 1985 and 1986 National A.I.A. conventions. A drawing of one of these projects hung in the Associate Dean's office until his retirement. At Yale, I was a teaching assistant in Architectural Photography and a tutor in Structures.
