Raquel Rodriguez

San Francisco, CA, US

My name is Raquel Rodriguez and I am a recent graduate from UCDavis where I received a Bachelor's degree in Interior Architecture. My interests include: design, architecture, engineering, urban design, and   planning.  Recently, I interned for the City of Sacramento with the Community Development Department assisting on the Design Review team under the mentorship of the Senior Architect. Here, I had the opportunity to see Sacramento in a different light and discovered the wonderfully preserved historical architecture of both residential and commercial buildings.  I am currently interested in working in the architecture and design field. I can provide a pdf of my portfolio upon request.

City of Sacramento, Community Development Department, Sacramento, CA, US, Intern

Assist Design Review team under direction of Senior Architect and Urban Design Director of both residential and commercial projects pending approval. When a project in Sacramento is assigned to receive approval from Design Review, I review the individual file with the Senior Architect to either make changes to plans, fix irregularities, call out technicalities, and enforce city standards and codes. Occasional site visits help determine the scope of work and extent of review. Each file is different and is reviewed according to each design district in the city. Use of Microsoft Office, Internet, Accela (government software), and Citizenserve. Final approval requires stamping final plans and following a closing protocol on computer software.
