McCamant and Durrett, intern

The Cohousing Company specializes in the design of multifamily neighborhoods. I'm able to expand on my knowledge of low-income housing gained at Habitat for Humanity and incorporate the future residents into the programming process. At McCamant and Durrett I reguarly conduct outreach to cohousing groups across the United States as well as research and write on cohousing and special needs housing. Writing has been a large component of my internship and I was been able to hone my skills first by editing the third edition of Creating Cohousing: Building Sustainable Communities. Duties also include design and rendering for urban design competitions, drafting as-built drawings, and construction management.

Holly Street Studio, intern

As an intern in a small firm I was given a wide range of tasks, from model building to construction administration. There was a wide range of public projects that I was involved in, including the Maryvale Pool House, the Manzanita Senior Center, and the new ASU student center. I developed digital and print presentations for clients, conducted site analysis, recorded construction progress, prepared schematic drawings, built study models, participated in client meetings, and photographed completed projects for publication.
