As a recent graduate of the Ohio State University, I am looking for employment in entry level positions at both architectural design firms and academia. My intensive graduate program has included many different perspectives and methods in how to design and critically study the broad spectrum that is architecture.
After leaving the program, I have found my interests most heavily lie in realms of cultural geography, systematic interaction, and yet also technical specificity. I am interested in a range of scales from the overall big picture down to the intricately small detail. It is also evident that an ability to work in the middle or across scales results in the most humanized works of architecture, those concerned with the interaction with the individual at the scale of the body.
My undergraduate degree in Anthropology, has prepared me to understand different cultures critically and synthetically. I have directed my choices of elective studios and seminars towards the incorporation of cultural understanding into a designed work.
My graduate degree in Architecture has prepared me to work diligently through design in order to create the finished work that initial research and contextual understanding had intended. I have used multiple iterations of diagrams, drawings, and digital models to produce digitally fabricated models, presentation boards, and informational booklets.
Cerminara Architect, Hillsborough, NJ, US, Architectural Intern
KLINGMANN Architects & Brand Consultants, New York, NY, US, Architectural Intern & Research Manager
I have performed management, marketing, planning, graphic design, and web design roles within a fast-paced environment.
During my time at Klingmann Architects + Brand Consultants, I have managed the final presentation documents for two international design competitions and led the design and implementation of the firm’s new website. After designing a new layout and directing interns in the reorganization and reformatting of the firm's project archive, I assisted in hiring a web development intern and directed his daily progress.
Furthermore, my role at the firm has included writing and preparation of lecture abstracts and seminar proposals, developing marketing brochures and project sheets, and coordinating with online and print publishers for additional marketing venues. Most recently, I am managing a research group examining architectural strategies that are site specific and contextually sensitive.
The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, US, Graduate Teaching Assistant
I was the Lead Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) of the Structures Course Sequence for two academic years.
I directed three other GTA's through weekly meetings to standardize grading of previous assignments and to clarify the following week's subject matter.
I worked directly with the professor to prepare online and lab materials for the course. I maintained a spreadsheet of grade information.
Homeport / Columbus Housing Partnership, Columbus, OH, US, AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate
In a short time frame of only 9 weeks, I was assigned the task to produce two booklets for Homeport, the home ownership division of Columbus Housing Partnership. Homeport's mission is to build and sell homes to those who could otherwise not afford one.
The first booklet was to inform a new homeowner of the typical maintenance procedures that comes with one. The second was to document a LEED(R) Platinum House built by Homeport. The resulting document was over 40 pages in length and included an introductory section about LEED(R) and the certification process.
Every piece of technology was documented including the solar panels, the types of insulation used and landscaping features used on the site.
