About

Omar Al-Hassawi is a recent graduate from the Master of Architecture program, design and energy conservation consentration, at the University of Arizona, College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.

Prior to his graduate studies, Omar worked for an architectural consultant in the Middle East for nearly five years on projects ranging in scale from small residential to large commercial developments. During his practice, Omar realized that designs which implement passive strategies, utilize renewable resources to generate energy, conserve water, and function properly are the key features  that should be sought in the design process rather than solely focusing on the building's form. The latter factors help decrease the negative impact that the built environment could have on our planet and increase the value of the architecture to meet the requirements of the 21st century.

Omar is currently seeking the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained during his studies on projects located in hot arid regions such as the Middle East through designs that will set examples for future developments.
