About

I've been practicing architecture and urban design since 2001.  In that time, I've developed a diverse experience in projects ranging from million square foot urban mixed use to smaller residential designs.    In 2009 I founded AV3 design studio with the intent of providing an alternative practice which focuses socially and economically sustainable projects that transform auto dependent suburban sprawl into pedestrian friendly neighborhoods.

"Traditional, Progressive & Authentic" is our manifesto.  Traditional, our work is built upon the tried and true, pedestrian scaled neighborhood, street, and block framework that has built some of our most cherished cities, towns and human habitats around the world.  Progressively, implementing new technology, design concepts within the traditional neighborhood framework.   Authentically inspired by the local history, building heritage, climate and ecology.

I am a team player and thrive in collaboration opportunities at AV3 design studio to develop intelligent, economical, energy efficient, compact and sustainable land planning solutions.

At AV3 design studio, we are seeking like minded developers, collaborations, local business owners and civic leaders to work together to create vibrant, sustainable and diverse communities.

Employment

AV3 design studio, Phoenix, AZ, Architect / Urban Designer

I launched AV3 design studio as a way to supplement my income while I completed graduate school. AV3 has enabled me to develop my business acumen and to explore the world of freelance architecture and urban design. As a freelancer, much of my work has focused on the design and planning of multiple urban design initiatives within the Phoenix metro area for developers, contractors and community organizations. The focus of our work has been to create complete and vibrant communities which are diverse in their uses, transportation methods, and sociology. Through these initiatives I design with the intention to create places which are authentic to the local ecology, culture and place. Today, AV3 design studio has grown into a diverse practice of urban design, retail, hospitality and residential project.

Education

NewSchool of Architecture & Design, San Diego, CA, US, MArch, Architecture / Urban Design

Completed the intensive Executive Masters research program. Here I conducted an extensive research study on the sociological notions of access, meaning and experience and how they can effect quality of living. With central Phoenix as my case study, I was able to identify patters, deficiencies and opportunities through the use of a citizen map survey. An extensive review of literature, case studies and historical examples allowed me to expand my knowledge of the areas of urban design, redevelopment and sustainable planning practices.
