My name is Eric Smith. I am a junior architect and recent graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I completed my Bachelors of Architecture last year and have experience working in firms in New York City and Long Island. Throughout this experience I have obtained a wide range of skills in the architecture and design fields. Currently, I am seeking professional registration and completing IDP.
Throughout my time at Carnegie Mellon, I have explored many different projects with many different focuses and themes. I am especially interested in parametric modeling, computer-aided design, urban planning and green design. In addition to architecture classes, I have experience in computer programming in JavaScript, German, and music. I love to travel and study how architecture and the built environment are influenced by the culture of a place. Last year I studied and Berlin, Germany and had the opportunity to experience many cities in Europe and study architecture in one of the most diverse cities in the world. I hope in the future to travel more and learn more about design practices of other regions.
I am employed at a small firm on Long Island, working as a CAD drafter and assistant designer on a variety of projects from single-family houses and critical facilities to a 120,000 s.f. institutional renovation.
