About

Farrokh Rostami Kia is currently a graduate student at the University of New Mexico, pursuing his Master of Architecture degree. His background working in different countries and with different cultures has given him an open-minded approach to problem-solving and has taught him to be both effective and efficient in his work.

His very first architecture related working experience began as a 3D Artist and junior architecture designer with the PendarePaydar consulting company in December of 2004. While there, he was studying for his Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering at Urmia State University in Iran. Following his graduation in 2009, he moved to Turkey to continue his education.

In 2013, Rostami Kia received his Master of Construction Engineering and Management degree from the University of Anadolu in Eskisehir, Turkey. He was honored as the top scholar graduate thesis of Civil Engineering Department. While in school, he wrote two research papers and was awarded for the 2nd best research study in 2nd International Scientific Conference of Iranian Academics.

In August 2015, he moved to the United States to enroll in the M.Arch degree program at the University of New Mexico School of Architecture and Planning. He is in his third year and has received two scholarships for academic achievements. His first-year studio work was selected to represent the school in 2016-17 as part of its marketing materials. While in New Mexico, he has worked two summer internships, one with Albuquerque Public Schools Facility of Design and Construction and another with Gensler Architecture, in Denver. He has also worked as a project assistant at UNM SAP.

Rostami Kia is an experienced team member and enjoys the challenges and opportunities of collaborative work. His genuine love for the field of architecture comes through as what it is: the joy of being able to participate in such a meaningful profession.
