I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Master's degree in architecture, and am seeking full-time employment with an established design firm, while advancing my career as a visual artist and fabricator.
In undergrad at the University of Calgary I specialized in drawing (perspective systems, anamorphosis, techniques specific to graphic media) and sculpture (casting, carving, welding, and assembling anything from small reliefs and figures to product prototypes and large-scale installations). I went into architecture prior to graduating with a BFA, by pursuing it as a minor degree. This entailed completing the first year of the Environmental Design graduate program while preparing work for the Fine Art graduating exhibit, and tested my multi-tasking abilities at extreme limits : at one point I was registered in seven courses, four of them studios, while acting as a lead on the production of an exhibition catalogue. Despite this intense workload, I was able to achieve excellence with all the projects.
Though I focused my efforts on the study of architecture and urbanism in graduate school, I did run a small apparel silk-screening business with a partner for the first two years, which allowed me to stay involved in the Calgary art scene and to gain invaluable practical insight.
I have working knowledge of html and css coding: in addition to my online portfolio and a small number of business-related sites, I created the website for the UIC SoA's student-run publication, Fresh Meat, and used to manage it.
