About

I am a Spanish young architect recently graduated from a Masters degree by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. I have received university education both in Europe and the United States, and I have combined my studies with different internships in Spain and abroad. Those experiences made me acquire a more open, critique and mature vision, both personally and professionally.

Although I start University in 2005 it is not until some years later when I really realize the value of architecture and my commitment to it. This lapse helped me, within time, to become a more analytical, thoughtful and self-confident person and to put real passion and enthusiasm into my work. I am capable of coherently pursuing an idea from the first sketches to the last details, being able to participate in every phase of a project. I try to face each project with sensitivity, keeping in mind the place and opening new perspectives by establishing a dialogue with current society.

Concerned and interested about interdisciplinary processes in architecture, I recently participated in a "Critical subjects" summer school in London, where we had speakers from a broad range of fields participating in an open discussion. This has been a great input for me to have a more ambitious view of the future, and it made me stand for an architecture that is conceived from the debate and the observation. This is an architecture that I defend, the one that has a strong conceptual base underneath and that focuses on people and their interaction with the city.

I have always tried to achieve personal goals outside my career. Our degree demands hard-working profiles, with great planning skills. Being part of the basketball team has helped me through it, as the level of the game demanded great involvement and dedication, but it also meant a way out to escape from the daily routines. It taught me to work within a team and to arrange my time the most efficient possible way, but mostly, it gave me distance to look at things calmly, with a different perspective, which has usually led me to taking more appropriate decisions.

At the moment, I am working for Luis Gayarre´s office in Madrid, where we are remodelling the American School. I have participated in all stages, from the initial idea to the construction documents, renders and dealing with the suppliers. As it is a very small office, I am taking a lot of responsibilities and, in that sense, it is being a very enriching experience, although I would like to develop my career more intensively, surrounded by  vibrant and qualified environment, where I could improve and exchange my knowledge.
