Born in 1991, Maria Olmeda is a visual artist and young architecture student from Spain. She is pursuing a double Bachelor degree in Architecture and Fine Arts at the Universidad Europea of Madrid. Being really passionate about traveling she has been studying in South Korea, at Sungkyunkwan University and more recently in Canada, where she finished her 4th year at Carleton University.
Nowadays she lives in Madrid and combines her studies with different research projects related to architecture and urbanism. She also works on her personal artistic projects.
As is the case with most artists, her practice is constantly changing and she is curiously interested in new approaches and topics. For that, she uses different techniques such as video or installation but the most characteristic of her work are the drawings that combine social issues, architecture and imagination-based concepts. Her illustrations are open to different interpretations and include references of movies, literature and travel experiences.
