"Architecture is an opportunity to reassess simple pleasures - light, air, view, color and natural beauty. By manipulating forms, materials, scale, light and ornament, we make the familiar seem extraordinary."
I stumbled across this quote while visiting the works of Koning Eizenberg Architecture in Santa Monica and really do love the writers summary of this industry. I seem to be drawn back to the various elements within this quote, which provides a daily reminder of how wonderful the profession I have chosen as a career, really is.
Today's post marks the first of a documentation of my journey through a Masters of Architecture, and although I admitedly am not the best of writers, I hope to provide an interesting collection of the goods, bads and uglies from time to time through this adventure, and my learning processes through the varying projects I am designated to complete. Hopefully this blog will bring back memories of those who have sucessfully secured a role in a firm, or possibly as a helpful tool for undergraduates and students.
This year, I have also decided to host an online image collage which is my daily collection of inpiring works from Architects and Designers from around the world, this format makes it easier for me to view many projects at a time instantly, with reference links to the source of content if further information is required. I tried and failed to have a successful image collage of my inspirations on Pinterest - I didn't enjoy this format as the images are too small for me and I feel the borders and small image sizes dissolve the personality of each shot.
