About 

Niyati Gandhi is an Architect and a graduate from the Masters of Advanced Architectural Design program at GSAPP, Columbia University. Niyati is actively looking for next career opportunities and is open to relocation given the right fit.

She is presently working as an Architectural Designer at 'wHY' Architecture in New York City. Her design contributions towards various art galleries, art museums, office buildings, and competitions can/ will be seen at Asian Art Museum (San Francisco, CA), Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York, NY), Gagosian Art Gallery (San Francisco, CA), and America Place (Jeffersonville, IN) to name a few.

Previously, as Research Director for Urban Design at Lab Dora (New York), she managed a team of three interns. This research is an ongoing study in the duration of travel for New York’s growing population of homeless families. She was responsible for coordinating, documenting, and collating the research which includes GIS data, interviews, and summaries of City policies as well as research conducted by non-profit organizations. Her team also focused on research and development of structural optimization for rapid assembly using computation and prototyping.

Niyati has also worked with multi - award winning practices in India and has experience working on a diverse range of projects including industrial, residential, adaptive reuse, hospitality, retail and interiors. She also enjoys research, exhibitions and installations. Multiple projects through her career have helped her gain extensive experience with design and construction management software including, but not limited to AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Rhino, V Ray, BIM, 3DS Max, Grasshopper and Adobe Suite.

As an architect and a strong conceptual thinker, Niyati seeks to deeply embed critical thinking and speculations to her design approach and problem-solving. She has developed her interest in designing for a dynamic variety of user experiences and aims to address contemporary issues in architecture through conceptually driven, socially engaging and technologically innovative work.

Asian Art Museum, San Francisco, California
Worked on renovation and expansion of the museum from concept to design phase. Designing 12,000 sq ft. of special exhibition pavilion, to be SF’s largest art exhibition space with 9,000 sq. ft. of unified gallery space and a roof garden.
