Jay Vanos Architects, Inc., Los Angeles, CA, US, Project Architect

Vanos Architects has had a 16 year history of participating in the production of architectural projects, including small, medium and large single family residences for specific individuals and families; large multifamily and mixed use projects for developers; and commercial and industrial structures for business.

Managed several projects ranging from single family residences to mixed use developments. Responsibilities included developing schematic massings based on regular and specialized ordinances in the City of Los Angeles. These ordinances include, but are not limited to, the Baseline Hillside Ordinance (BHO), Baseline Mansionization Ordinance (BMO), and Historic Preservation Overlay Zones (HPOZ). After the development of schematic design the production of construction documents while simultaneously meeting with clients and consultants was a large part of how the office operated.

In addition to the responsibilities indicated, projects were submitted to the Authorities with Jurisdiction where meeting with plan checkers on a regular basis provided a permit for each managed project. This required technical knowledge of the International Building Code ( IBC) as well as a precise set of organization skills in responding to the plan checkers comments.

• Sunset Flat Apartments ( 65 Apartment Units & 6 Commercial Units)
• Lucile Ave. Small Lot Development ( 4 Single Family Units on a Subdivided Lot)

AECOM, Los Angeles, CA, US, Designer

AECOM's multi-disciplinary studio consists of Architects, Urban Designers, Planners, Landscape Architects and Economists which enabled the team to be engaged in work at all stages of design and delivery.

Working with both the Urban Design and Architecture Studios as a Designer, responsibilities included producing early concept phases as well as final deliverable's and presentation renderings. Work in the Urban Design studio ranged from numerous international large scale master planning projects in East Beijing and Langfang, as retail entertainment destinations.

In addition to the macro scale of Urban Design, the micro scale of Architecture fostered the opportunity to work on several projects with international recognition. Responsibilities included working directly with engineers in-house to design and produce bidding documents that eventually led to the construction of renowned projects worldwide.

While using Revit as a design and documentation platform, these projects insisted that complex file formatting and accessing were essential to the projects success. This is where the rigorous process of using Revit to manage complex file structures aided in the efficient output of design and documentation.
