This kind of talk is ok for an architecture school but I have come to expect more scientific rigorousness from TED talks. It's really easy to get excited about growing architecture and their research is interesting, but this doesn't even address the reasons Venice is sinking.

I enjoy this TED but Venice needs a more realistic solution for its issues immediately. Like CKL, mentioned, the factors of Venice sinking need to be identified in order to be handled effectively.

Venice has continuously been rebuilt on top of itself. Any excavation in Venice shows a (vertical) timeline of built structures there. Historical Venice did grow over itself - tourism and preservation have stunted this.

i think in this case venice is a convenient site for a cool project. the idea itself is definitely exciting when thinking longer-term future of architecture. check out armstrong's website. she's really multidimensional. not your typical architecture studio instructor.
