Quakers take green building to the Capitol
The FCNL, a Quaker lobbying group, has just renovated a building that was falling down, into a showcase of 'green' building practices and design. The building is right next to congressional offices in Washington and the FCNL hopes to use the building itself to educate congress members from both parties and chambers. Go....Quakers!

Interestingly, the first room to house the U.S. House of Representatives, in Congress Hall (1787, 1793), Philadelphia, is very similar in design to the Friends Meetinghouse (1803-11) on Arch Street, Philadelphia. I remain curious as to whether both designs follow an older Quaker Meeting precedent.

Go Earth Quakers!

Venturi, not entirely sure, actually. I'm pretty sure his mother was a Quaker however. Part of his early education was for sure Quaker.

sans, better add "rationalist" to that. Supposedly, in the eyes of the Lord, I am a bonafide Quaker. There are more than you think...
