Temporary/ Portable Facade

This temporary facade is a translucent skin, which can be attached to the existing surface of the building at the time of special events such as open studios. The geometry is developed in Grasshopper, Lunchbox and Weaverbird for Rhino. Using parametric design and digital fabrication tools, allowed us to create a sculptural surface with exciting new geometries to attract visitors during the open studio hours.

The client, (Looma) asked us to design a new skin for his studio facade, however we had limitations of conformity of the facade to the whole building complex. Looma studio is a small part of a building comprised of many look alike units which are rentals and have appearance rues and regulations. Therefore we decided to design and make a portable facade that could be installed or removed at any time.

In collaboration with Looma lamps' designer, Romy Randev, we created an interactive light wall with LED lights that changes color using a small controller on the side of the studio by a user. The spectrum of colors of the glowing facade is almost unlimited.https://vimeo.com/82236072
