It's that time of the year again. Let's go ahead and share our stats, anxieties, questions and decisions together.
Following information would be helpful for future applicants:
- Age/Sex/Citizenship - Undergraduate degree/ School/ Year graduated - GPA - GRE - TOEFL scores for Int'l students - Letter of recommendations - from whom (this can be general; employer, professor, etc.) - Personal Essay/Statement - Portfolio - Schools (results [in, out or waitlist], any $ offered, any other pertinent info) - Open house impressions - Results (the school you plan to attend, waitlist, rejection.) - Tips

Is anyone anxiously waiting to hear from Wash U like me or am I just being naive to believe they would actually let you know in the latter half of February as they stated in email?

I'm still waiting to hear back from Wash U as well... According to gradcafe.com, last year the school sent out decisions as early as February 23rd. Hopefully we'll hear back from them soon enough!

I heard that there are lots of applicants applying to Wash U this year so that might be the reason why it's taking them so long...

Got accepted to WashU 2.5 year, but they offered less money than I expected. And isn't it weird that they charged $350 for open house?

Mar 1, 17 7:48 am
The GPA system in my school is different. It is 70.4 / 100 ( we follow percentage system) which roughly translates to 2.75 / 4.0 by American standards. But there is an official letter of clarification of grading system I submitted with my transcripts. We have absolute grading. Not relative.
underwood_1234
Mar 1, 17 8:03 am
I have passed from University of Mumbai and my percentage is 76% and while applying i put in GPA of 3 (as shown by WES website), i didn't provide a letter of clarification..Hope it works out well now...Anyway..Congrats again!
pss13
Mar 1, 17 8:07 am
I am a graduate of CEPT University and the university provides for a letter of clarification and a detailed explanation of the grading system we have at CEPT. A lot of things we do at CEPT aren't included in the GPA (as per the system when I was a student. It has changed now) but have credits. It is a bit complicated. Additionally, the university also certified my level of performance etc. Indian students have issues when it comes to GPA because percentage system invariably leads to low GPAs despite having "A distinction" as per our norms. Maybe you should ask your school to give such a letter if you are considering other schools or want to re-apply.

Mar 2, 17 11:11 am
i applied with AP. Only for GSD though since other schools don't seem to have ap option when applying.
zs_47
Mar 2, 17 9:15 pm
Well, got a rejection from GSD, and haven't heard anything back from Cornell so that's a no based on past years' experience. I still firmly believe that my portfolio is very strong (and that's actually what Pratt's dean told me on the national portfolio day), maybe it's just my projects are too unrealistic for Harvard or Cornell as they are now more focused on actual "building" architecture? If my last top schools still reject me than I've probably got some other problems... Anyway, it's still just the start of the marathon race to become a truly elite architect.

I got a call from FedEx customs clearance. I am an international student. All they said is that a package for me from New Haven is stuck at the customs clearance and if I know anything about it. Hopefully, it reaches me soon. I have to send some verification documents to FedEx.

me too i still haven't heard back from Cornell. And from past years' gradcafe I assume we are rejected, if we haven't had any email early in March for either admission or waitlist.

Mar 4, 17 11:18 am
Ahhh.. That's depressing. But shouldn't they send us some sort of rejection mail? Even the status hasn't changed on the ApplyWeb site. So, I am still hoping! :-) let's stay positive! I am halfway across the world. I was unable to call them. I did shoot them an e-mail yesterday, but no response. I f you are in US, could you please call them up and let us know?

I am curious how Penn measures up to Cornell. Any insights on Penn's program and faculty would be very helpful!
Hey guys!
It's that time of the year again. Let's go ahead and share our stats, anxieties, questions and decisions together.
Following information would be helpful for future applicants:
- Age/Sex/Citizenship
- Undergraduate degree/ School/ Year graduated
- GPA
- GRE
- TOEFL scores for Int'l students
- Letter of recommendations - from whom (this can be general; employer, professor, etc.)
- Personal Essay/Statement
- Portfolio
- Schools (results [in, out or waitlist], any $ offered, any other pertinent info)
- Open house impressions
- Results (the school you plan to attend, waitlist, rejection.)
- Tips
Is anyone anxiously waiting to hear from Wash U like me or am I just being naive to believe they would actually let you know in the latter half of February as they stated in email?
I'm still waiting to hear back from Wash U as well... According to gradcafe.com, last year the school sent out decisions as early as February 23rd. Hopefully we'll hear back from them soon enough!
I heard that there are lots of applicants applying to Wash U this year so that might be the reason why it's taking them so long...
Not going to lie, when I remembered that they said that, I probably checked my email no less than 30 times/day during the last few days of the month...
same here, I checked my email like every ten minutes so it's gotta be more than 30 times per day ... it's killing me
Same, they're my top choice. I was admitted to U.Michigan this morning
I got umich as well... but I couldn't afford it
Finally heard back from WashU- Got an email notifying me I've been accepted to the 2.5 year M.Arch program! Anyone else?
Got into MLA/MUD 3 year program. No financial information "yet", which is interesting since I've seen a few other applicants have already received financial information. C'mon, WashU, even Michigan threw me some $$$.
Got accepted to WashU 2.5 year, but they offered less money than I expected. And isn't it weird that they charged $350 for open house?
Did anyone else hear from Michigan??
Did you?
Did you? I saw on thegradcafe.com that someone got admitted. Haven't heard anything myself.
Yeah I haven't heard anything either. Hopefully soon. Best of luck!
Received an email around noon EST with a PDF acceptance letter and merit scholarship offer.
Oh nice. Congrats!
Yes! I received the notification as arch_w1 merit scholarship information was included but the financial aid information was not yet posted.
I meant received the same notification
Congrats! Heard from them this morning, got in to the 2-year program, but without scholarship.
congrats!! That makes sense - It looks like three-year heard yesterday and two-year today!
I got in for their 2-year as well! With a partial scholarship
@mr.1111 check your IIT app tracker. Mine just updated but I didn't get an email or anything. I got in! Best of luck.
yay, congrats! And thanks for the info! Mine is still showing the same thing...
I received an official email today, but still not sure about any funding
Also just received an email that I was admitted to an alternate program, "Master of Landscape Architecture, Advanced Standing". Emailed them about it, must be an error...
They fixed it, it was supposed to be Master of Architecture, Advanced Standing. Also haven't heard anything about funding.
@cwesleystein have you gotten any financial support info yet?
Not yet. I got an email the other day that said they would send financial award info early this week.
Just followed up with them, admit letters and scholarship offers will be sent out by the end of this week.
Weird one, but has anybody heard from Ohio State or UIC? If any of you all applied to one of those!
UIC! The wait is unbearable..
I know someone waiting on OSU. Nothing rec'd yet.
I am waiting on UIC, I reached out to ask for an update on when to expect the results but have not gotten a response.
UIC posted on their application summary!!
Mine hasn't been updated as of yet. Did you get in!?
Yes! Just updated, so they must be in the process of going through now. No information on funding etc. just note on the application status changed from pending to accepted pending official transcript!
Awesome! Congrats! Hopefully I hear back soon!
I got into Ohio State, with a fellowship - but that may have been early notice? I got the initial email about acceptance in Jan and got a phone call today about the fellowship.

Congratulations.. what was your GPA?
The GPA system in my school is different. It is 70.4 / 100 ( we follow percentage system) which roughly translates to 2.75 / 4.0 by American standards. But there is an official letter of clarification of grading system I submitted with my transcripts. We have absolute grading. Not relative.
I have passed from University of Mumbai and my percentage is 76% and while applying i put in GPA of 3 (as shown by WES website), i didn't provide a letter of clarification..Hope it works out well now...Anyway..Congrats again!
Alright..Thank You (:
Hey, congrats on Yale! Any idea as to when will MIT or GSD release their results?
No idea. I am waiting for them too.
F/26/India. I am in at Yale, M.arch II too!
looks like Cornell has started to send out results...
Cornell in with $!
In at Cornell with $, M.arch II
Congrats! Would you mind me asking if the $ cornell offered was good?
Not at all! They offered 14k, which is not so much :(
What about you, what was the offer?
Same 14k
Has anyone else not gotten an email from Cornell yet?
is anyone who is MArch I got an e-mail from Cornell? should MArch I and II come out at the same time??
im MArch I and haven't got a reply yet... from Cornell
have a sense that they may send out later today. so nervous.
same here
Haven't gotten M.arch 1 either
Same. Someone just viewed my Linkedin though . . . .
what do you mean?
Nothing. My imagination running wild haha
hahaha very understandable
Just got accepted M Arch I, anyone else?
Just got acceptance letter!!!!!
congratz both! Still waiting for mine...
anyone else try to figure out results from the notification timing... probably a bad habit
congrats! And yes I can't let go of that thought. . . still no word here
Same, M. Arch 1 and no word
Cornell in with $, M Arch II
Would you mind informing us the amount of the scholarship?
Congratulation on all the MArch II in with Cornell~~~
Has anyone heard from Upenn yet? I live on the west coast and I found out that their open house is on March 27th which is very soon when it comes to booking flights. Perhaps that means bad news for me but I thought I would ask if anyone else has heard yet for the M Arch 1 program.
I believe that Upenn will publish their results March 14th at noon for everyone on their website. Not sure about any early contacts though...
I think they said the decision could come out as late at march 14. Haven't heard either
Wow that seems late but thanks for the information!
Help me, help you.
Apparently architecture is a pretty popular course, even more so then Math/Sciences. Surprise, surprise.
for grad school it is. Because everyone else gets jobs after their bachelors
Apparently (as seen on grad cafe) someone got a 25k scholarship for m.arch in Cornell beginning on summer. Does anyone know if the m.arch I also begins in the summer? or did they give more $ to some than to others for merit based scholarship for m.arch II? I've been wondering...
Am I the only one who hasn't received any mail from Cornell? (For M.Arch II)
Check the applyweb site
I did, no change in status.. :-(
mine changed to view deci sion letter
I have to wait! I hate waiting!
By the way, congrats for getting in. :-)
Thx :)
Got accepted to UCLA Thom Mayne Studio, still waiting on GSD GSAPP and Bartlett
Are you talking about the Now Institute? Because I don't think Thom Mayne is teaching MArch II this year...
was misinformed ! sorry
anyone applying for Parsons MARCH 1 in here? Any idea when they gonna send out?
Anyone else not heard anything from Michigan?
I haven't heard anything back yet either, I've even checked their ApplyWeb
I haven't heard either, application just says submitted - feeling like it might be bad news :(
I hope not :-(
If I haven't received any letter from a school when people report them being accepted on this forum or on grad cafe, is it safe to assume that I got rejected or waitlisted?
Same question here...
That's what I assumed from Cornell.
Thanks for the reply arjeny! How about GSD, saw gradcafe some ppl start to post acceptances from MArch I AP.
didn't know much about GSD...
hope it doesn't mean rejected..
just checked gradcafe and saw last year's GSD acceptance, most people got accepted at around March 4-5, then there's someone being accepted in March 7 WITH MAX FUNDING, maybe if they give you lots of $$$ you gonna hear from them later, hope this is the case. Anyway good luck everyone!
zs_47, All of them who got maximum funding are advanced placement programs. And there are no ap acceptance record after that... anyway, guess just gotta wait
I'm AP myself.... but you're right we just gotta wait. Lol my blind confidence in my portfolio is shaky right now :S
I would not assume because you haven't heard it means it is a no! Who knows how they organize sending out the notifications, I think trying to figure it out is only going to make you crazy. They could still be going through a group of applications, trying to figure out scholarships, etc.
zs_47 lol same here. ap as well, super confident until rejected by yale haha...
yea maybe i should unfollow this thread, haha. But a no would hurt..
true dat. just curious, did you apply for the ap at the start or they changed it for you? I applied only march 1 but they changed it to ap last week. I thought it was a good sign until i found out someone on gradcafe experience the same thing and got rej D:
i applied with AP. Only for GSD though since other schools don't seem to have ap option when applying.
Received a call from Harvard - accepted M.Arch 2 on a Dean's Scholarship - that with their financial grant should cover tuition.
I am waiting on Princeton and MIT - which I would prefer both over Harvard as Harvard is a massive program and just seems to be a door into SOM - I am concerned about the lack of individualism at the school.
Sure am curious to see your folio.
can you see the status change on your app page? or they just told you the result on the phone but didn't update the website? thanks!
Congrats! Any updates on the app page?
App page doesn't show any update
I think you just got all of us here extremely nervous haha
Congratulations!
But yes, REALLY nervous now !!!!
Thanks for the congratulations, I was told on the phone that letters would go out this afternoon, but I am not sure what exactly they meant by that and if it is just for people on the scholarship or all admissions. I know last year Harvard sent out an email to check on a Saturday, so maybe they will do the same and do it this Saturday.
That's exciting, this afternoon! thanks for the tip (:
Not to bug you, but did you receive a letter or a status update on your app page from GSD?
I have not had any update I just checked
Okay, thanks :)
GSD website is now updated, received a rejection!
Not sure if I want to check mine....
Waitlisted for GSD. Wondering what the chances are :/
I just got an email from MIT for acceptance into the SMARCHS program but am waiting on the funding - official letters they said will go out soon.
You are on a roll! Congrats!! :)
Yes thanks exciting, my final decision will be 100% financial, who ever offers the most money. Hopefully the wait ends soon for everyone, the anxiety did give me some sleepless nights.
Does anyone know when MIT will release M.Arch decisions? Especially now that they're sending out SMARCHS
Super curious myself - last year according to grad cafe people were notified by phone, but on there website it says decisions cannot be given over the phone?
F - UW, Seattle
B.A in Architectural Design (graduated in 2016)
Work experience as an architect: Working at a firm in Seattle since June 2016
Recommendation letters: 3, all professors
GRE: Verbal 164, Quantitative 156, Analytical writing 4.0
GPA: 3.7
Programs applied (all AP): UBC, U Michigan, Columbia, MIT, Ohio State, CU Denver, U Toronto, SCi-Arc
Waiting for response: UBC, U Mich, Columbia, MIT, U Toronto, SCi-Arc
Accepted: Ohio State ($$$$) + CU Denver
Worried about U Michigan and SCi-Arc if people have heard back... I have had seen no update or email.
i believe they have updated the harvard status on the website!
I got into Georgia Tech!
Did anyone here back from Berkeley?
negative
Got into Ohio State w/ $$ :)
In at Harvard MAUD with 20K, still can't beleive it!
In GSD M.arch I. What a relief!
Congrats! Did they call you or email you?
congrats! im too scared to check hahaha
Just an email, seems like they only called people with scholarships.
I got an scholarship and they emailed me!
Thanks and good luck everyone!
Hi! I got in for MLA, no phone call, just email. I got a Tier 1 grant. Did any of you get Tier 2? Do you know what the max might be for that?
Congrats! I don't know what is Tier 1 and 2, i got 20k. How much have you got?
20K, which I think is just need-based and determined from the fafsa. Think there are 2 grant types from FAFSA, I got one of them! Sounds like you got a merit scholarship!! Congrats!
I'm not American, so I am not eligible for the fafsa thing. Mine was a dean scholarship, which I beleive is based on Merit.
In GSD MarchII..still can't believe it
Congratulations!
Thank you!:)
..
Has anyone heard from UPenn yet? (early notification letters?)
still waiting too. not sure how to gage my odds there. does anyone have any idea about their acceptance rate / stats?
I think they will publish all results March 14th at noon. It's just that based on gradcafe i saw some early emails last year at March 6, I believe that UPenn is relatively easy to get in as they recruit a lot each year, but the financial aid will suffer as a result...
Not yet, I have heard UPenn is slightly easier than most of the other schools! My portfolio definitely suffered when I tried to condense it to the shorter length though so who knows!
I got an early acceptance letter to UPENN, hopefully that means some ok money? any one else hear back ? i know they send aid out on the 12th or 14th.
Hi guys!
Does anyone know what kind of financial aid packages the AD S. MARCHS offers at MIT?
I got in but am waiting on the financial aid part and am wondering if it is even possible...
Thank You!
GSAPP MSAAD in, no word about $
In at GSAPP Urban Design. No word about $
waitlisted by Cornell. Received an email asked me if I want to stay on the waitlist.
I received a call yesterday from an Associate Dean and UCLA commending me on my dossier and asking if I was coming to the open house, is that normal? I mean does that mean I'm get aid?
lol in this case it's most probably that he wants you. :) good luck!
He can have me for the right price!
thanks, you too@
He called me too. What a nice gesture!
hey cool! did you ask him any questions?
In Penn March I. Just received email!! Fuck yes!
Me too!!! Congrats!
Congrats!!
Congratz! Me too! Finally somebody said yes! PHEWWW !!! I also like UPenn because of its modern design methodologies and philosophy, And the free concerts of Curtis at Philly, which are like free cake and candies for a pianist like me :)) Maybe this is what's meant to be for me!
Not to mention cost of living and cost of program. At the open house they said average student rent is $500. Coming from San Francisco that is a very tempting number. But I continue to hold my breath for GSAPP!
Me too!! Wooooo
In GSAPP MSAAD!!! Hell yeah!!
Did anyone get accepted to Michigan despite having relatively low GPA and/or GRE score?
I got accepted with an incredibly low GRE but I had really good grades
Anyone have any idea when UVA might come out? Congrats to all the recent acceptances!! (Also just got Penn email!)
