This is probably a silly question to many here, but nonetheless:
In your own simple words, what is the key difference between a set of DD drawings and a set of CD drawings?
When does a DD set begin to look too much like a CD set and vice versa? What type of information would be considered excessive for a DD set, and better reserved for a CD set?

I just got done with a set of DDs!!! Had to meet with the client about them today to make sure the equipment was put in the right place and that it met their needs...seriously...
We do SDs by sketch. Then DDs are hard line plans, elevations (int and ext), one-line sections, and maybe a few specialized details that need client input. DD sets are intended to mitigate changes and control client expectations. Often their last chance to see drawings before bidding.

DD
technical information about systems and subsystems
outline specs and drawings
update cost esitmate
update time schedule
CD
Procurement requirements
contracting forms
conditions of the contract
specs
contract documents
and
resource drawings
What you might have wanted from CD might have been just the working drawings.

ahh ninja sessions, secret they are, but know them you must. if all are CDs then why DD or SD or sketch. in your head is final solution, young ninja - but then the clients fuck everything up with their god damn DIY opinions and a zillion agendas and the ninja takes to drinking and says fuck it, who cares, I am insured......in CA you find resolve for all things inadequate in CD.........

I've mostly done it as:
DD-scope/cost/permit
CD-construction (everything that wasn't needed for above+coordinates all the consultants work)
