A project for a low cost sustainable house for the West Australian Government. The project was completed while working at Optimum Resource Architects. The intent of the project was to provide a solution for a 100sqm home on a small lot. Our proposal was a 2 storey home that allowed some land area to remain for outdoor use so that the occupants could take advantage of the outdoor lifestyle afforded by the West Australian climate. We also proposed a two stage construction process, a traditional double skin brick lower floor and a timber stud framed upper. the idea was that the upper level could be constructed in a factory while the lower floor is being built on site thus reducing overall construction time.
