About

I had graduated from the undergraduate college of architectural engineering (Bachelor of Architecture) in Korea University, Seoul, South Korea in the year of 2006. After graduation, I worked as a design architect in Hae-ahn Architects in Seoul for two years from January 2006 to December 2007. During that period I had good chances to participate in a wide range of projects including a multi-unit residential apartment, retail and entertainment mixed-use, commercial facilities, office buildings, and skyscrapers. The small sized design team that I was work¬ing with had me exposed to various aspects of managing projects. I was extensively involved in façade design for number of projects and also had practiced in communicating with clients via proposals and presentations.

The professional experiences in Korea were followed by study abroad in TU Delft as I had decided to broaden my understanding of how architectural design could be realized in different environments. Upon completion of the first two semesters in TU Delft, I was offered a job as an assistant designer at BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group)in Copenhagen. During the ten months of internship at BIG, I mostly participated on the “Astana National Library in Kazakhstan” project from schematic design to construction drawing. My role in the design process was to present the defined set of slabs and sectional frames in 1:500 and 1:100 structure models, and to arrange all the selected materials on complete physical models. Among other assignments I had completed were; study on library rings’ structure and bookshelf designs that meet the need of the structure, study on spatial characters of interior spaces with various materials, and inner and outer spiral facade material study. As I came back to Delft in 2010, I worked on my graduation project in Materialization studio, through which I could further deepen my understanding on use of a wide spectrum of materials in different aspects of forms and programme. Furthermore, I explored how the structure of a building can and should influence forms, spaces and the atmosphere within. After the graduation, continuously, I have had an opportunity to work in Erick van Egeraat as an architect until now. Here, I mainly participated on the “Banya Guest House in Moscow” project from design of exterior and interior elements to construction drawing. My role in the design process was to present the definition of all the doors’ and windows’ openings in all the axis, and to study all the 3d models cooperated with a construction company. The most interesting assignment was that I have had a strong responsibility to complete all the construction drawings of the ‘Banya Entrance building’ in communication with a structural engineer company, so far.

My interests in architectural design have been rather constant through my academic experiences and professional practices. Firstly, I am interested in how the phenomena in nature can be reflected and realized in architecture. I have always been fascinated by the form, structure, color, and texture of the organic objects found in nature, which I often tried to bring to architectural design. Secondly, through the last years, I have grown distinctively good at exploring computer programme and working with technologies in a way to examine the potentials and possibilities of sustainable design which has long been one of main interests. For I believe that cities will have tovery much rely on high-technologies in the future, I try to have myself acquainted with new design methods and tools. Finally, composition, contrast and complexity of elements are the other main interest. I think that every scale of design process ranged from furniture making to urban planning must be considered with the three points. With my interests, motivations and abilities, I believe I could make a valuable contribution to your design team. Additionally, I am confident to work as a team and to build good relationships with the members and also with the clients, which I have practiced through my career in different teams and firms.

I believe that my education and about 4 years – architectural employment backgrounds in South Korea and European countries will bring a great diversity and excitement to your working environment. Along with my resume, work samples are enclosed to provide additional information about my qualification and projects.
