I am an interior designer with an MFA from the New York School of Interior Design. I came very close to going to school for social work or school counseling, and the part of me that wanted my life to be devoted to some social service is still very strong. I have a passion for public space, with interests ranging from office design to transportation hubs to institutional design.
My background is in visual art, theater and education. It is my goal to fully incorporate all three of these things into design of interior space.

Robert Herring Travel Prize, 1st Place
Before interior designers can create spaces that enhance well-being, they must observe the different ways people work and live. Travel hones designers’ understanding of the relationship between culture and the built environment, and channels a global perspective into their designs. The family of Joseph Roman understood this when they initiated NYSID’s travel award in 2005.
