Changshu Master Plan

Changshu Master Plan is conceptually and thematically tied to images of water, both metaphorically in the formal architectural language, and literally in the form of canals and fountains.

Changshu CBD is conceptually and thematically tied to images of water, be they literal canals and fountains, or metaphorical in the formal language of the architecture. Changshu CBD lies merely 1 km from City Hall and 3 km from the city’s prosperous merchandise sector. The urban-planning challenge of this site stems from the imposing 80 meter-wide New Century Avenue which bisects the property, clearly defining the western and eastern portions of the project. In order to connect both sides and avoid a fracture in the harmony of the site, three large boomerang-shaped parks run the length of the property from east to west, each elevated over the congested avenue and providing sweeping views of YuShan Hill to the west and the adjacent river along Zhaowen Boulevard to the south. The elevated park also camouflages the structured parking and service zones for the towers. Entry drives and drop-offs are conveniently located at the edges of the park structure, with direct access to each building. The park terminates in the grand Water Gate: the formal entry to the project that cars and bicycles pass under while driving along Century Avenue.
